Students' Stories at Yips

— parents of Johnathan Ou

“Poof! Four years went by at Yip’s like a blink of an eye. It is graduation time for Avery and probably the most memorable one for us. A new chapter begins as he moves onto Grade one. It also means that he has to leave this wonderful school and all the loving teachers. For my husband and I, we have been with Thornhill Yips for almost a decade with both our boys graduating from SK here. We have seen some changes but one thing we know for sure that has not changed is all the teachers’ dedication towards educating these children. We want to take this opportunity to thank all the teachers for your love, care and patience to look after our children and to prepare them well for their long road ahead. Avery will definitely miss hugging all the teachers and friends as this is part of his daily routine. Good luck to all the graduates and thank you all for being an important part of Avery’s childhood life!” – Alice & Adam Razack (parents of Avery Razack)

I go to Yip’s! Yip’s is my favourite school!這令我確信把晞晞和堯堯送進葉氏,是一個正確的決定。葉氏,彷彿就是晞晞的第二個家。葉氏的各位老師,衷心的謝謝您們!! When he first came to this school, Rian was not even two. He was clumsy, sometimes naughty, but teachers keep telling me that he’s bright and bubbly. They teach him to read, and teach him to write, and most importantly, they teach him what is wrong and what is right. Time moves on, in just a click, Rian is almost turning six. He is still clumsy, still sometimes naughty, but I am thankful that he has been learning happily. Thank you to every teacher at Yip’s, for what you have done today. Which is laying the perfect foundation, for Rian to thrive in different ways. Thank you and thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.“ — Rita and Anthony Chan (parents of Rian & Anri Chan)

“Thank you Ms. Amy and all the wonderful teachers at Yip’s Thornhill campus. You provided Jadon a safe and loving environment to learn and build up good friendships. We are gratefully seeing his progress over the years and delighted to see his exposure to varieties of learning (Cantonese, Mandarin, English, French, piano, violin, science, etc.). We truly appreciate it. While Jadon is excited about his new adventure in the grade school, he will certainly miss his friends and teachers at Yip’s. Congratulations to all the pre-grade 1 tykes! Wish you all success in the journeys to come.” – Debbie and Ken Kwong (parents of Jadon Kwong)

“Emily had an amazing and unforgettable 3 years at Yip’s and Somerset! From being a very shy and quiet preschooler walking into the Casa class, she has flourished into an outgoing and confident graduate who loves math, reading, languages, music, dance, and so much more. The learning experience and performing opportunities provided by the school have fostered her independence, confidence, and curiosity to explore the world around her. “With the years in Yip’s, Lauren has come a long way with the love and care from the teachers. She has developed the necessary learning skills when enjoying the school life with her friends and teachers. The music component offered by the school provides her a good opportunity to be exposed to a variety of music earlier on and will make a positive impact on her. The foundation that the school has prepared her will help her to better transition into the next chapter. Thank you Yip’s for all the hard work. — Minran & Manyin Chen (parents of Lauren Chen)

“Jayden really enjoyed his school time at Yip’s. Over the past three years, he grew from learning ABC to speaking four languages. We were proud of him performing in the violin and piano recitals and concerts. Seeing Jayden gaining knowledge through an enjoyable environment is truly an incredible experience for a parent and we are glad that we have made the right choice. The teachers are very observant and passionate in developing the children into little people. They not only care about the academic development of the students but also their personality and behavioral development. We would like to thank all the teachers and staff for doing an amazing job in teaching the children, giving them love and care, and helping the parents raise these wonderful kids. Thank you very much and keep up the great work!” — parents of Jayden Lee

“We would like to thank Yip’s staff for their time & effort in the past years. Aside from academics, children had a lot of opportunities to explore other interests such as music & drama. This has enriched the learning process. School should not be straight grades—ethics and moral values are equally important. It is great that Yip’s can show children the significance of these.” — parents of Kyle Fung

“We are very pleased that May will be graduating from Yip’s and starting another new chapter in her life. We still remember May’s first day in Yip’s. She was shy, knew few things and cried for her mom while entering the classroom. Time flew so quickly by that May spent four years of sweetness and happiness, developed very well in language, music, arts and many aspects, and made many great friends in Yip’s! I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all teachers in Yip’s for their care, patience, commitment and love towards May. We are especially grateful to Ms. Elsa and Ms. Melody who are very kind, considerate and responsible. Thank you, Yip’s!” — parents of May Huang

“We made the right choice to pick Somerset campus for Brayden. We are really satisfied with his progress. His behaviour and academics improved throughout his two years at Somerset. Before, he didn’t like music, dance or Chinese and his favourite subjects were reading and math. With encouragement from teachers, he has made a big effort to achieve excellence in Chinese, music and French. He is interested in playing piano. He is happy and enjoys going to school everyday. He has a lot of opportunities to interact with classmates during group work and reading with big sisters and big brothers at Somerset. Thank you to all of teachers and staff members! We would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to Ms. Lam, who has always been there for Brayden in good and bad times. To all the graduates: we wish you all the best and continue to have success in the future. Have a wonderful summer!” — parents of Brayden Dam

“Congratulations to Kaileigh and all the PG1 classmates on their graduation! We started our journey together in the Toddler Room and have so much to be proud of and thankful for since starting 5 years ago. We’ve made many friendships along the way. We witnessed year after year how much you all have grown. We sang, we read, and we learned so much together. It is sad to have to say good bye but we will definitely remember all the fun we shared. Kaileigh will surely miss seeing all of her friends everyday. We would like to say thank you to everyone at Yip’s that helped and supported Kaileigh over the past 5 years. It wasn’t always easy or fun but thank you for continuously being patient and kind, for turning the frowns upside down, for making lessons fun, for showing her new things, and for always cheering her on. Thank you all so much for helping her grow. To our Kaileigh: We couldn’t be any more proud of you and all your accomplishments. Everything you’ve learned at Yip’s has become one of the important steps in your journey. Although it is time to say good bye, you have many new and exciting challenges waiting for you. Congratulations on your graduation! Lastly, we would like to send our well wishes to our extended Yip’s family. We wish you all the best in your endeavours and hope to one day cross paths again!” — parents of Kaileigh Safranko

“During the three and half years in Yip’s, I really appreciate seeing my son grow from having speech problems to now speaking fluently in both English and Cantonese. He can also speak some Mandarin & French! I am really amazed of what he learnt from Math (addition, subtraction etc.) and Science (solar system, eco system etc.), I didn’t expect he could remember all of it but he did. These are truly inspired by all the lovely teachers. Thank you so much for all your effort!” — parents of Gavin Kam

“Congratulations, my sweet Charlize on completing senior kindergarten! We are proud of your great achievements and works in school. “I am really glad we picked Yip’s Music & Montessori School for my son. Joric enjoys going to school everyday and always comes home with a smiling face. Joric met his great friends in Yip’s and I know his friends will be his life time buddies. Seeing my son grow and learn happily is priceless. Looking back on the past few years, Joric was a baby who knew nothing. And now he is a big kind boy who can read by himself, sing songs, dance, play piano, play violin, etc. I want to take this moment to thank you everyone at Yip’s to provide such a safe and fun learning environment for my son. Joric will graduate Kindergarten soon and a new chapter will begin in September. A lot of different challenges are ahead of him and I have no doubt he is ready for them as he built a strong foundation at Yip’s. Joric has always been known as a kind and behaved boy at Yip’s, hopefully he can continue his great personality and become a successful man in the future.” — Joey & Eric Ho (parents of Joric Ho)

“Julia has grown a lot since the first day she started Casa 1 at Yip’s Music & Montessori School and now she’ll be graduating SK from the same school. Looking back, we see a shy and quiet girl who doesn’t initiate. Gradually, we see the progress in her gaining confidence to speak in front of people and making friends with everyone she crosses path with. She has blossomed into a kind, friendly and helpful person that we are very grateful for. We are very appreciative of the help and effort that all the teachers in Yip’s has shown my daughter not just with academic learning but also character development. Although we are sure she will face many new challenges ahead but we know in our heart that she’s well prepared for the next chapter in her life at grade school.” – Linda & Ben Iong (parents of Julia & Jacob Iong)

“Hayley came to Yip’s Thornhill when she was only 18 month old. Being the youngest baby in her class at the time, she still needed diaper and could only speak less than 20 words. For the next five years, she’s been well taken care of and educated by all her teachers. Together we’ve witnessed many milestones in her life journey: successful potty training, fluent Chinese and English speaking, capable to read and write more than 50 Chinese characters, being able to read chapter books, confident to do various kinds of math calculations, and last but not least the recent Chinese Literacy award and piano performance award at the Yip’s Music Festival. Now the once-little-girl has grown up to be the oldest girl at school, and is going to graduate from Yip’s. She’s going to miss her friends and teacher. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful and passionate teachers at Yip’s Thornhill. It takes a big heart to shape a little mind. Thanks a lot!” — Ivy and Ryan Liang (parents of Hayley Liang)
